The 3 Days Tsavo East & Salt Lick Safari offers an unforgettable wildlife experience combining the vast plains of Tsavo East National Park with the unique ecosystem of Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. Enjoy multiple game drives, scenic landscapes, and a memorable stay at the famous Salt Lick Safari Lodge, known for its elevated structure overlooking a busy waterhole.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Mombasa / Diani – Tsavo East National Park

Your safari begins with a pick-up from your hotel at around 6:00 AM, followed by a scenic drive along the Mombasa–Nairobi highway to Tsavo East National Park, entering through Bachuma Gate.
Begin your morning game drive en route to Aruba Dam, a key watering point where animals gather. During the drive, you will enjoy views of major attractions such as:

Yatta Plateau (one of the world’s longest lava flows)

  • Lugard Falls
  • Tsavo River
  • Mdanda Rock
  • Voi seasonal river

You will have the chance to spot wildlife including red elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and possibly leopards and cheetahs.
Proceed to your lodge, arriving at around 1:30 PM for check-in and lunch. After some relaxation, head out for an afternoon game drive at 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Tsavo East – Taita Hills (Salt Lick Safari Lodge)

Start your day early at 5:30 AM with tea or coffee, followed by an early morning game drive, the best time to see predators in action.
Return to the lodge for breakfast at around 8:30 AM, then enjoy a final game drive before departing for Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary (approximately 75 km).
Arrive in the afternoon, check in, and enjoy lunch at the lodge. Later, relax while watching wildlife at the lodge’s waterhole, a major attraction of Salt Lick Safari Lodge.
In the afternoon at around 4:00 PM, proceed for a game drive in Taita Hills, exploring its diverse habitats including acacia woodland, savannah, and wetlands.
Wildlife here includes elephants, lions, cheetahs, zebras, and numerous bird species such as weaver birds, kingfishers, hornbills, guinea fowls, and ostriches.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Salt Lick – Taita Hills – Mombasa / Diani

Wake up early at 5:30 AM for tea or coffee, then head out for a morning game drive with a chance to spot predators such as lions and other big cats.
Return to the lodge for breakfast at around 8:30 AM, followed by a final short game drive.
After lunch, depart for Mombasa or Diani, arriving in the afternoon and dropped off at your hotel.
